1. Project Brief Introduction
We were selected to provide mild steel ball joint handrails as well as steel gratings for BHP South Flank Iron Ore Mining Project in the Pilbara region, Western Australia.South Flank will be the largest iron ore processing facility ever built in Western Australia. The project will include an 80-million-ton-per-year crushing and screening plant, an overland conveyor system and rail-loading facilities.
The South Flank project will fully replace production from the 80-million-tons-per-annum (100 per cent basis) Yandi mine, which is nearing the end of its economic life. South Flank is a capital efficient project that will offer attractive returns. The project will enhance the average quality of BHP's Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO) production and will allow BHP to benefit from price premiums for higher-quality lump and fines products.
2. Ball Joint Handrail Supplied for BHP South Flank Iron Ore Mining Project
Ball joint handrail is made by stanchions and handrails as well as kneerails.
We have specialized auto-welding machine to weld the pipe and hollow ball together to be ball joint stanchion, the machine can complete one piece of ball joint stanchion within about 30 seconds. The welding joints of the ball and pipe are more even and smooth than manual welding.
Besides, we can offer stanchions seprately or offer finished handrail systerm according to drawings.
For South Flank Project, we provide ball joint handrails for ship 1 and ship 2, ship 4, ship 6, ship 9 and ship 10 at various dimensions and shapes. Specially, most of the ball joint handrails are equiped with safety mesh for protection purpose.
3. Ball Joint Handrail Surface Treatment for BHP South Flank Project.
All of the ball joint handrails are required to be hot dip galvanized for 1st coat, then degreased and blasted by non-metal particles, after that, primer and top coat will be applied successively. Details please refer below sheet:
